hey again,
I wrote Jim---thanks! I've read all your writings and they're great( I already knew you can write ) and the interview with Rocky is really funny. To clarify:
* the scripted name in the film is 'Dodge's Bulldog'. It was never used because Rocky became
undependible so quickly, he was written out of almost all scenes except game sidelines--and George's personal relationship w/ Rocky (trains, apt. motorcycle sidecar, etc.) was written out. If we had used Washee I think everything would have been left in, which would have been awesome for everyone and the movie would have been much funnier! Rocky's obsessive relationship w/ Sally caused these results, although I think he looks great in the movie.
I noticed immediately that Washee had none of Rocky's issues.
When Dreamweaver (and 7 others) began the casting process, I didn't include Washee because Shirley & John told me that Washee had a fear of the sound of 'duct' tape being ripped. That may have been a PAST issue but I now know that Washee should have been the star dog of Leatherheads and the original role would have stayed true to the story. I lost 11 shooting days for all the scenes Rocky was written out of. And, Leatherheads lost a lot of potential really funny scenes it could have used to help tell the story with even more humor.
Oh well, ce la vie.
I've done a few films since I last saw you. Thanks for all you've done, Teresa.
ps. I stayed at the 'Lazy H' cabins in Bainbridge in August!!!
I didn't even remember it's your town. Beautiful! Steve |
