"have or ave" in Pompei

I am curious why there is written in Pompei on the pavement in front of the house of the dancing Faun "have" and not "ave".

Thank you in advance,
Jeanne

Re: "have or ave" in Pompei

I've wondered about that every time I've seen a photo of the mosaic.

I can understand wrong spellings in Pompeii graffiti, but this is something that someone spent hours laying down in tiny stones.

It reminds me of the Catullus poem about Arrius who thought it was 'posh' to add an initial 'h' to words. Could Arrius have owned the House of the Faun?
