Wildcats vs Beavers

What's up cat fans. The time is now, we have something to prove. We have a chance to break into the top five in the PAC-10. With a win over the Beavers could very well break into the top 5 of the PAC. I am not an anyalist, I am a long time fan of the U of A. I want to break down the game a little if anybody is interested. I also want to know what everybody alse thinks. Now we all know that OSU has a good rushing defense. But know after the win over WSU we know that we can run the ball. Can we do it again, against OSU? We also know that OSU has a great running back, will our defense be able to slow him down? Those are some of the questions that will be answered on Saturday. Arizona 2-3 overall and 1-1 OSU 2-3 overall and 0-2. Those records tell me that we have a good chance of beating OSU. Im not big on history, but the last time we were in Corvallis we pulled out a big win. Hopefully we can do it again. OSU has some injuries to keys players, Sammy Straughter WR & KR, and a Defensive back (I don't recall his name). If the cat's stop the run and score at least 30 we will. This is why OSU being a running team that means they can't put a whole lot of points in a hurry. Arizona has a great passing game and can put up big numbers. We are playing better defense, but we have to play smart. OSU's QB has thrown more INT's than TD's we have great D-backs. We will be missing Dominic Patrick, but it looks like Cason will move into that spot. Devon Ross will move into Cason's spot. That means that we will have alot of play makers and speed in the defensive backfield. I say Arizona wins 35-17.

Re: Wildcats vs Beavers

I like the way you think though there a couple things you failed to touch on. Stoops said last night that Cason will not be switcing to safety which is not a problem. I suspect Klyce will take over for the next couple of weeks. He played pretty well last year in place of the injured Johnson so I don't anticipate a huge dropoff.

The most important aspect of this game is the matchup between our D-Line and their O-Line. Going into last week the 'Cats hadn't recorded a sack and really hadn't pressured anyone. We came out with a lot of blitzes and finally started getting some pressure on the QB and I think registered 5 sacks. OSU is starting an inexperienced Sophmore QB so if we can get pressure on him our secondary should be able to force some mistakes. So, I expect to see a lot of run and just straight blitz packages cause as you mentioned stopping the run is going to be extremely important.

As for our offense WSU came into last week preparing for a heavy passing attack and we caught them off guard with a lot of rushing to set up play action. I almost expect us to do the opposite this week with the pass setting up the run against their stiffling run defense. Should be a pretty balanced attack though similar to last week.

Lastly I watched OSU play Cincinnati early in the year and outside of Bernard they didn't look that impressive. Its strange to think that our defense has been somewhat of the weak link since the opening week and I expect them to make a statement this week UofA 28-7
