Stoops is Staying

Word out of Tucson is that Livengood and Stoops will both be returning next year. There were rumors about calling for Stoops's head following the Stanford debacle but he seems to have righted the ship for now.

His record isn't anything to write home about but there's no denying there's more excitement surrounding UofA football. Lets not forget some kids were tasered at the beginning of the year trying to get into games.

I personally am happy he's coming back. Next year will be the toughest year he'll have loosing just about our entire defense after this year and if we don't make a bowl this year or next I think he'll be gone.

Next will truely be the test for coach Stoops. Yes he does lose the whole starting defense. The offense will have more experience at the o-line spot, wide recievers, running back, quaterback wow just all around on the offense. Plus a year under the spread offense system. Stoops has been bringing in alot of talent for 4 years now, and the recruits will really have to pay off on defense for us to have a successful year next year. I think that we will be in the same position next year that we are in right now.
I really hate to sound so negative, but I was so high on this years team and had such a big let down. So next year I won't get hyped up about them but still a supporter. I am glad that Stoops will be around for a while, but we do need to see some improvement.

Your optimism wasn't misguided. We gave away both the New Mexico and Stanford games. We could just as easily be 6-4 right now with two opportunities to secure a bowl bid as opposed to 4-6 fighting just to be bowl eligible with nothing garaunteed as we saw last year.
