M&P 45 vs XD 45
I'm think about shooting CDP and TSA in major and need a good 45. I don't like 1911s, they jam alot and have a limited round count. I'm thinking about the new M&P 45or a XD-45 5" , NO GLOCK because the G21 is to big for my hands. If anyone has any info on these firearms please share it. Thanks, THE 1 CARD |

I am a new shooter myself....started about 3.5 yrs ago at NCRR. I started with Kimber 45 and went to the XD-45 and Glock 19. I would rather shoot the 45, but ammo has gone thru the roof lately so been shooting the Glock 19 most of this year. However, the XD-45 I shoot better as I can also see the holes it leaves in the paper targets....I spend three days at DR's in Nov of 2006 and I shoot best with the XD-45. I also shoot at Blackwater better with the XD! I have heard good things about the M&P, especially with the interchangeable grip. I just don't support S&W anymore since they went to bed with the Clintons! Happy New Year,,,, |

I just recently went through the same thought process myself for the same reasons. The only difference was I was choosing between the G21SF and the M&P 45. The M&P 45 is a great gun with crappy magazines. The ones I looked at had defective feed lips and were just cheesy to begin with. I'm told they're made by Mec-gar. This company has never made good mags that I've seen. The mags that come with the 40/9mm M&P's are of good quality and probably made by a different company. They will have to get good mags before I jump on board an M&P 45. I chose the Glock. I know it's going to work and the reduced grip circumference fits my hand quite well. I'm just trying to find one now with the standard (non-ambi) mag release. The XD is also a good gun but the trigger reset is WAY excessive. If you're a revolver shooter you probably will not have a problem with it. Even after having my 2 guns reworked they're not as good as the Glock right out of the box. I may sell them someday but I'm not in any hurry. |
