Re: J45 Are serial numbers different for each model?

This is probably a stupid question, but do the different models have serial numbers that are similar to each other in terms of year of manufacture? I have a 'bent neck' J45 with a serial number 98890, which I thought was around 1965-66. Reading other messages I noticed a much higher number that was identified as being 1964, but it was a different model.

Hi Stewart

Your J45 is from the latter half of 1968.
The Hagstrom acoustics were almost entirely manufactured by Bjärton, and their serial numbers is a straight list, no batches and no differentiation by model.

You should pay a visit to www.bjarton.com where there's plenty of good stuff.

Re: Re: J45 Are serial numbers different for each model?

I would bet that they actually wer made in batches. But the surviving records (and thank God they were found recently) do not indicate, it seems.

If we ahd enough samples with known history we might be able to figure more out.
