Hi!
I came to see Haydn's Country Matters tonight, at Lincoln Theatre Royal, and I was so impressed.
I'm sorry there wasn't a huge audience tonight, but I'm afraid my fellow Lincoln students just aren't as cultured as others. lol :)
As much as I love opera when it's sung in the original language, it was lovely to hear it in English because I didn't actually know the plot of this opera, and so it was made easier for me to understand. It was such a funny show. The characters were played beautifully and they all had wonderful voices. The orchestra was simply fabulous and the set was also really superb. It almost had an Into the Woods feel to it, which I saw at the ROH in June. The way that the set was altered and the characters moved, was seamless. Having a door pulled out the floor - brilliant! :D
An absolutely superb show and I wish I was going to see Teseo tomorrow night, but unfortunately I have a birthday party to go to.
I wasn't able to come and see your operas last year for one reason or another, but I did go to the children's one at the Drill Hall. Orpheus in the Underworld I think it was? Anyway, that was also brilliant. I look forward to seeing you next time you're in Lincoln.
Maybe one day I'll be on the stage instead of watching it :) It's my dream to become an opera singer, although I'm playing the safe option at the moment by doing a PGCE in Secondary Music.
All the best,
Lyndsey x |
