The 10th Annual Susquehanna Warrior trail 5K Race is on for tomorrow. Rain or shine!!! The rain should stop before the race, but as Berwick running legend Bill Bull says, "We runners run in rain, snow and even sunshine."

270 runners and walkers entered the 10th Annual Susquehanna Warrior Trail 5K Race & Fun Walk. The rain had passed. There were rays of sunshine, a slight tease from Mother Nature, but an overall great day for a race and a chance to socialize with our extended running community. The course was wet and muddy in spots but runners are a hardy bunch and braved mud and puddles and a crowded field. Overall Female Champion was Katie Sick (25-29) with a 20:13. Overall Men’s Champion was Trevor Grohowski (15-19) with a 19:46.

Ann Sick (55-59) broke the old course record of 26:43 set by Patty Phillips in 2010. Ann’s time was 23:08. Ann, who upholds an excellent family tradition of running excellence, now owns THREE Susquehanna Warrior Trail records --- 55-59, 50-54 (21:13), and 45-49 (21:44).

Thanks for everyone who supported our 10th annual 5K. It was an awesome event. This will be the last Susquehanna Warrior Trail 5K with Max and Pat Furek as Race Directors. Pat and I now pass the torch to another director and will offer as much support as we can to ensure the continued success of this excellent race. A special thanks to our close friends who supported our race with their friendship and loyalty. It meant a lot to see your smiling faces.

When Max says that it "was wet and muddy in spots", that's a bit of an understatement. It was impossible to stay dry, but once you got muddy, it was actually "fun" splashing through the mud.
