Re: Calling on Laing/Lang/Lange Family Historians

I am currently working on project concerning the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, where your g-g-g grandfather is buried. I have a photo of his grave marker, but it is in very sad shape. This spring, I plan on going into the cemetery and doing some major cleaning of the site, removing the brush, etc.

Trinity Lutheran Cemetery has not had a burial since 1925, and the cemetery is overgrown with trees and brush. Unfortunately, the cemetery has been vandalized over the years, and some of the grave markers for people who are buried there were either stolen or destroyed. I had heard from some of the local residants that some kids had gone into the cemetery and thrown some of the grave markers out into the woods.

The church associated with the cemetery was dissolved in the 1970's and the church building no longer exists. Where it once sat now has a private residence built upon it.

I did manage to find the original burial records for Trinity Lutheran church, and one of the records was the burial of Herman Laing. I have not been able to find out what happened to his wife, though. I haven't scanned in the records, but as soon as I do, I will send you a copy of it.

I would like to do a small write up about each of the families who are buried in this cemetery, and was wondering if there was any information that you would be willing to share with me?

I just find it such a shame to see this cemetery in such disrepair, and the people who rest there forgotten.

Sincerely,
Heather Smith
