NCAA National Championship

Two of our NEPA distance runners have qualified for the NCAA national Championships Eugene, Oregon during the weekend of 7 June. They accomplished this by their performance at the Eastern Regionals in Lexington, Kentucky last weekend. These races are referred to as "heats" for the nationals.

Regan Rome took third in her heat in the 5000 m in 16:28 just 0.3 sec behind the winner. She also third in her 10,000 m heat in 33:38 less than a second behind the winner.

Tessa Barrett won her heat of the 5000 m in 16:01. Her time was the fastest in any heat including the western regional.

Rome's time in the 10,000 was faster than any runner from the western regional.

Dominick DeLuca ran in the men's heats in the 5000 but did not qualify for nationals.

Re: NCAA National Championship

Regan Rome just took 6th place in the NCAAA Championship in the 10K in 33:06. Nice work.

Don Grose, Marj Adams, and I all watched the race together while enjoying a brewski at the River Grille! Regan, you are amazing!!! Congrats!

Re: NCAA National Championship

And Regan is scheduled to run the 5k on Saturday (8:25 pm)as well as Penn State's Tessa Barrett.

Not many women are trying the double.
