Two of our NEPA distance runners have qualified for the NCAA national Championships Eugene, Oregon during the weekend of 7 June. They accomplished this by their performance at the Eastern Regionals in Lexington, Kentucky last weekend. These races are referred to as "heats" for the nationals.
Regan Rome took third in her heat in the 5000 m in 16:28 just 0.3 sec behind the winner. She also third in her 10,000 m heat in 33:38 less than a second behind the winner.
Tessa Barrett won her heat of the 5000 m in 16:01. Her time was the fastest in any heat including the western regional.
Rome's time in the 10,000 was faster than any runner from the western regional.
Dominick DeLuca ran in the men's heats in the 5000 but did not qualify for nationals.
