Stew,
I came on board when the ship arrived in Yokosuka in 68. Was in the deck div. until I went to the Weapons Office as a Yeoman. Your name rings a bell, but I can't place it. Give me some dope on you and maybe I can make the connection.
I was in Mount 52 upper handling room as a projectile loader until I made E-4, then went to Mount 51 as Petty Officer in charge upper handling room.
I left the ship just before she came back to Long Beach when I made E-5 and went to Bupers.
Hi, I came to the Mac in June '69 and I remember the name Rick Foster. but so much time has gone by that all my memories of my former shipmates are too foggy to bring into crystal clarity. There was Slater and Frickie and Corwin and Somera and Bruerton and Rust and so many more others. Was Rick Foster the guy who went over our files with us to "up-date" or records? I have too many memories of thoes great times!
I came aboard in June 1969 via a helicopter from Saigon, Vietnam. In keeping this message short I came aboard as a boiler man. Because of my previous experience I became a deck hand for six months and then went into the supply division as a storekeeper for the next three years. I remember Fred Freeman as our cook and Stew also known as Buffalo. Stew was the mid rats cook who broke out supplies for the day time cooks. Stew was a funny guy who said that he was going to move to Australia when he was honorable discharged. I personally tried to live in Australia back in 84'. Didn't like it. Still love Alaska! Not sure why I can still remember my past but it could be the Agent Orange that is making it's presence.
I was aboard for the last cruise of the old gal. Checked on board in october 75 in San Diego. IC3. Did switch board watch in Main one. Worked with an MM1 Stewart. Is this the same person?
