“Maya: The long walk to destiny, is an adult work-piece of an epic drama that explores the ordeals of Maya Isaacs. An over-protected single child, a victim of a broken home, Maya was raised singlehandedly by a man whom she knew as her “‘father,”’ Samuel. He had divorced his wife, Cynthia, years ago on grounds of infidelity before Maya turned three years old and due to her strict father who made sure she would not end up like the slum kids in the neighbourhood, by the time she was fifteen she was smart, well educated, a leader everyone looked up to and well liked in her college years, but a run down with someone known as Graig, reveals to her the truth about her father, as he was once one of those slum kids her father worked hard to keep her away from them and as much as Maya refused to believe Graig on what he told her, never the less it wouldn’t leave her mind on the things he said, leaving her with no choice but to confront her father for the truth.
her father knew the day would come that he would have no choice but to tell her who her mother was and worse who he really is to her and upon hearing the truth from her own father, the truth was to much to bear and too soon for Maya to know, where she runs away, believing that by running away from the truth would help her to confront it, but instead it leaded her in to a life of good, bad and ugly there after, through out her life
Maya went into the underworld endeavour’s of stealing, drug trafficking and prostitution, under the cover of a very perverse juvenile assembly, called the Alternative lifestyle Club (The ALC). She joined the club in the pursuit of what she called her “destiny” and became popular among many top-notch underworld bosses, becoming a high paid assassin.
After years of disappointments and being betrayed, Maya thought she could use her “connections” to bite the fingers that fed her, by carrying out the assignments given her own way—a way of letting the organization know that she was no push-over. But that was not the case! Consequently, Craig and Ms. Diana, the active players of the club, led this juvenile to her doom. in the end everyone used her and when she started to retaliate against them, They set her up and the police did the rest.
The long arm of the law eventually landed her in prison.
It was while she was in the prison that she realized that changing for the better would be the only way to save herself.
Through a favour from Van Brussels, a rich gold merchant, school owner and chairman of the Louisville Shipping Company, against whom she had committed a crime in the past, Maya was released from prison before the stipulated sentence was up. She was sent to the United States for Secretarial studies, worked for Van Brussels’ company for many years, and then returned to her native home with her husband, Daniel Young, to find her father, who she had left years before.
Maya became a woman of substance. Her fame and enterprise rose up the corporate ladder, but she realise that those she trusted and were responsible for the life she lived were still after her, in fear that she knew to much, forcing her to confront them all once and for all, where she then decided to move far away from everything with her family and her father, but those who then took over the organisation they themselves were also in fear of her of everything she knew and decided to put a secret bounty of ten millions on her life, where fifty years later the only thing that was found of her, was a stone in a graveyard, no longer in use, where it read: THE LAST RESTING PLACE OF MAYA
The two men who found it and were standing over her grave wondered if that was the actual resting place of Maya or if she would still be alive? although they knew that if she was still alive she would be in her 80s and most probably dying somewhere in a slum, with that in their minds they concluded to tell their boss that they found her and she’s dead and buried. or is she? for as the two men walk away there seems to be a very old lady sitting down on a bench feeding the ducks in the pond....
