"Vox Populi" is a morally ambiguous sci-fi thriller, written along the lines of films like "Akira" with its technocratic dystopia and weaponisation of technology, and is also inspired by games like "Deus Ex" with its themes of clandestine conspiracies and mythologically-influenced symbolism.
Log Line: In a cyberpunk post-Brexit Britain where crime, poverty and nationalism reign supreme, a jaded but honourable ex-soldier becomes embroiled in a network of international plots as a pair of warring factions fight for control of the former United Kingdom, and with it, the world.
Synopsis: In the year 2026, the UK has ceased to exist following a bloody civil war which culminated in its departure from the EU and extermination of the Royal Family. The country has turned into the British Democratic Republic, and former Spetsnaz officer-turned-private military contractor Mikhail Chekov is assigned to investigate a suspected terrorist attack in New London, believed to be the result of a renegade faction called ARCUS. Eventually betrayed and left for dead, he is revived as a nanotech-enhanced cyborg and is forced to work with recidivistic vigilante Enrico Robutti to investigate the Sol Federation, a global entity formed to help unite the world after the First British Revolution and collapse of the European Union. Discovering a secret society is manipulating the Federation from within, Enrico and Mikhail are forced to decide where their loyalties lie, their decisions triggering an invisible war which could either culminate in a human revolution or leave mankind divided…
I believe the dark humour, high stakes and ethical grey area in "Vox Populi" will appeal to a wide audience. Please let me know if I can send you the script, and thanks for your time and consideration.
