FEATURE LENGTH SCREENPLAY - DEATH OF A PAINTER

It is the summer of 1967. Twelve-year-old painting enthusiast GRACIE tells her GRANDPA PATTI of her desperate desire to see the ghost of TOM THOMSON who died mysteriously exactly fifty summers prior just a few feet from her grandparent’s cottage up on beautiful Canoe Lake. Past and present merge throughout this coming-of-age story, illustrating often with comedic teenage angst what may well be the most plausible explanation yet of an age-old Algonquin mystery. In the midst of fishing tackle, WWI footage, northern lights, bon fires, boot leg shanties and railroad lines, enigmatic painter TOM THOMSON along with the founding members of the Group of Seven: AY JACKSON; LAWREN HARRIS; FRANK CARMICHAEL; FRANZ JOHNSON; ARTHUR LISMER; JEH MACDONALD and FRED VARLEY come to vibrant life together again both as extraordinary painters and as ordinary friends.
