WOLF MOON
On the night before lift-off, an astronaut is bitten by a werewolf, and when he lands on the lunar surface, it will be a nonstop bad moon rising for him, his crew, and everyone back on Earth.
Great point about this: Most of the "big" visuals—rocket launches, space, the stars, the moon—already exist in the public domain or can be obtained from NASA.
When a weekend away with friends takes a deadly turn, two devoted couples must fight to survive against overwhelming odds.
Beyond the Horizon, a reporter returns to her childhood home investigating the disappearance of two missing friends. This was near a top secret base rumored to have experimental aircraft being tested, and strange lights in the sky. Logline, "be careful which truth you seek"
ESCAPE POD: A young crewman in charge of a lifeboat aboard a dying spacecraft faces agonizing dilemmas and decisions. Who deserves to live?
This is a single location low budget sci-fi thriller.
I am a previously produced screenwriter and published author. The script is 87 pages.
Thanks, Nick.
"Arbor Day"
Tagline: Brenda Blair just wanted to make a horror movie... now she's living one.
Synopsis: The year is 1985 and B movie actress Brenda Blair has been offered a chance to write and direct her first feature film, the only problem is she only has a title and no script. Working on a tight deadline, Brenda is offered a chance to stay the weekend at her producers house in the country where she finds herself the target of a mysterious killer.
There is a first draft worked up which is currently 77 pages. The protagonist is a female and there are three main characters and a few small supporting but a relative small cast. The story has a "Twilight Zone" vibe to it and takes place mostly at the country home. While the film takes place in the year 1985 it's mostly for the backdrop and potential style and tone of the film.

A fearsome Warrior of WWIII survives a bio-nuclear Armageddon that has destroyed most of humanity. A horrific epidemic is rapidly claiming the lives of the hopeless survivors. Together with his teammates and a nuclear scientist's ex-Marine daughter, he must battle mutated monstrosities, carnivorous flora, and murderous cutthroats, in their quest to save the scientist who may possess a cure, before an unforgiving Earth eradicates them all.
Synopsis:
The earth is forever ruined. The result of a bio-nuclear Armageddon. Those who survive, find themselves in a barren, toxic nightmare where death comes in horrific and grotesque form. A world where the weak and dying long for death. Where the mighty are sure to dispense it. A decaying world where the earth itself rebels to exterminate the parasite that is humanity.
Yet there is one man who is ready, willing, and capable of defying the impossibility of survival on the alien and ravaged planet that is Earth: Angel Martin (28), more widely known in combat, as the Angel of Death! A fearsome Special Forces Commando and decorated hero with an astronomical body count during WWIII. However, the masses are dying, as well as those of Angel’s family, from a mysterious disease brought on by the lethal effects of the horrific cataclysm. Angel must rely on his inherent skills, instincts, and special training to protect and keep his family and friends safe in the malicious environment.
While stalking the deadly terrain, Angel and his team stumble upon Mackenzie (24), a beautiful young Marine, pursued by a vicious pack of evil renegade soldiers, intent on rape and revenge. After Angel and his team decimate the treacherous squad, she divulges that her father, a bio-nuclear scientist, is being held captive by a wayward military contingent, sheltered within a distant hydroelectric power plant. Mackenzie believes that he may hold the cure for the disease afflicting the remnants of humanity. After weighing the deadly options, the strapping warrior agrees to rescue the scientist; thereby saving Mackenzie’s father and the surviving members of Angel’s dying family, Jim (26), Trish (18), and Rick (16).
Angel, Mackenzie, Jim, Hero (22), and Mountain Man (24), with the aid of the Panther, the commando’s unique Special Forces prototype ATV, embark on a plan of rescue that takes them on a harrowing journey fighting their way through ghoul-infested cities, battling humongous rats, DNA-altered sabretooth tigers, and ex-military cutthroats. The deadly environment is rife with deception, where violent death is lurking at every turn. Littered with areas of dead zones, the landscape proves to be an alien wilderness where species of plant life, so bazaar, can pursue their victim. Their trek is fraught with danger and filled with non-stop military action. The mid-point of their journey ends in a climactic battle with a vicious cutthroat and his henchmen, set to the music score – In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins - who savagely raped and murdered Angel’s loving fiancée.
As they approach the dam, a strategically hardened installation, Angel must devise a way to dupe the guards and gain access to the facility. Unfortunately, the subterfuge is discovered and all but Angel, who has been critically injured, are captured and taken prisoner. Lucky to have gotten away with his life, Angel must seek medical attention and resupply before he can make another attempt. The determined veteran of WWIII does so and finds a way into the dam undetected but not before slaying a malevolent demon from another dimension. He learns that nuclear annihilation has ripped open the fabric of space and time allowing such creatures to enter his realm. After accessing the dam, Angel finds that his men have been beaten and locked in a cell with a number of civilians, while Mackenzie, whom he is falling in love with, has been tortured and threatened with sexual abuse.
Another music score – Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler – parodies Mackenzie’s struggles, fears, and hope that her hero, Angel, will save her in time!
The strapping commando covertly frees his men and retrieves their weapons. Together, with select fellow prisoners, Angel mounts a savage attack against the corrupt military contingent in an effort to free Makenzie. In a fierce firefight to seize control of the dam, all the soldiers are dispatched, but not without collateral damage. Mackenzie, rescued before any harm befalls her, obtains a weapon and viciously ends the life of Wooten, an exceptionally abusive guard.
During Mackenzie’s imprisonment, she learned that her father, deemed as valuable trading stock and no longer held at the dam, is interned at one of the barter towns that have emerged out of necessity and desperation since the holocaust. Angel finds himself at a crossroads. Return home to his fortress where his younger sister and dying brother are alone, afraid, and desperately fending for themselves, or continue
