I am pleased to submit my children's book,
The ABCs of Bullying: It Stops with Us, co-authored by myself and my grandson. This poignant collection addresses various forms of bullying, including racial bullying, cyberbullying, and bullying from siblings and schoolmates.
In Racial Bullying, Janet, a fourteen-year-old African American girl, moves to a new city and starts her first year of high school. Excited about the new beginning, she quickly realizes she is the only African American student in her class. Despite her friendly demeanor, Janet faces racial slurs and bullying from her classmates, particularly from Eric, a popular but racist football player. Janet's initial excitement turns into distress as she struggles to understand why she is treated differently. Her parents, who have always taught her to be proud of her heritage, encourage her to face the challenges with her head held high. With the support of her new friend Hazel and her family's guidance, Janet learns to navigate the difficult environment and embrace her identity with confidence.
In Cyberbullying, Payton, a wealthy girl who loves social media, uses it to mock others. When her mean-spirited video goes viral, Payton becomes the target of harsh online harassment. The relentless cyberbullying pushes her to a breaking point, highlighting the real-life consequences of hurtful online behavior and the importance of empathy and responsible internet use.
In Bennie the Bully, Bennie, a timid boy who is constantly picked on by his older brothers, channels his frustration by bullying other children at school. Through a heartfelt family intervention, Bennie and his brothers learn the importance of empathy, kindness, and understanding the impact of their actions on others.
The ABCs of Bullying teaches young readers about the impact of different types of bullying and encourages discussions among children, parents, and educators about diversity, inclusion, and the value of treating others with kindness and respect.
Enclosed, please find the manuscript for your review. I am eager to discuss how we can bring these timely and important stories to life and share them with a wider audience.
