Inspired by a true story: In the not-too-distant future, college super star quarterback 'Little' Willy Bateman is nearly killed an automobile accident with his nonthrowing arm getting sheared off by a sharp-edged guardrail. Although surgeons reattach his arm, Bateman's told he'll never play football again. However, with help from his supportive physical therapist girlfriend, Bateman achieves the impossible when he turns pro, helping his father's team defeat the heavily favored Mexico Conquistadores in the first ever Gold Bowl (a.k.a. Super Bowl), featuring a foreign team that entered the Professional Football League (a.k.a. NFL) four years earlier as an expansion team.
