- HANNAH, young, laughing in a sunny kitchen.
- JEFF, charming, holding her hand.
- JEFF, angry, smashing a plate.
- MACIE, quietly watching, fists clenched.
- HANNAH running from a dark street at night, carrying her sons.
- RAYMOND opening the door, concerned but calm.

DR. BLANCHARD
She's stable. The babies were trying to come, but we've slowed things down.

MACIE
(voice cracking)
You're okay... really okay...

RAYMOND puts an arm around MACIE, holding her steady.

RAYMOND
We've got her. She's safe. For now.

HANNAH smiles weakly. Tears roll down her cheeks.

JEFF sits in his car, fifth of Cognac in hand. His eyes are wild, scanning the house across the street.

JEFF
(to himself)
You can't just leave it like that...

He downs another gulp.

INT. HANNAH'S HOUSE – NIGHT

Police officers leave after providing domestic violence resources. HANNAH, MACIE, and RAYMOND sit in tense silence.

HANNAH
I don't need anyone staying tonight. I'll be okay.

MACIE
(smiling tightly)
Oh, sure. You'll be just fine. Meanwhile, I'll be outside with a flare gun if he shows.

RAYMOND chuckles, shaking his head.

RAYMOND pushes through, shielding the boys. MACIE confronts JEFF.
