Hi Elayne & thanks for the questions!
First - don't take the jewelry out!!! it won't necessarily "close" up quickly - but it will start tightening up quickly to the point that it will be difficult to get the jewelry back in.
you said you're wearing a curved bar - is the bottom ball the same size as the top ball? or are you wearing more of a "navel" style curved bar with the bottom ball bigger than the top?
if the bottom ball is bigger - you might try changing it so both balls are the same size (a little smaller) - this might alleviate some of the weight which could reduce the raw sensation.
if both balls are the same size - you might look into getting a titanium curved bar instead of steel (assuming your bar is steel). titanium is lighter than steel. and keep it so both balls are the same size.
AND if your bar is a "navel" style (like mentioned above) and you're gonna switch so both balls are the same size - you might just save yourself an extra step and go ahead and get titanium.
another question would be does the length of the bar seem adequate? is it too short and possible "pulling down"? or is it too long and possible "pulling down". the bottom ball should be exposed out the bottom of the hood - but you shouldn't have a bunch of bar hanging out as well...
if none of this is working - then you might investigate a ring for a while... but i really don't know if that would solve anything.
hope that helps - let me know if you have any other questions.
