How sad to lose another good character actor. You're right in saying that he and Susan would have been wonderful in a series based on "Say Goodbye, Maggie Cole." I thought they were terrific together, and the premise of the series was very good.
I especially liked Darren in "Kolchak," he of the disheveled clothes, hat askew on his head and camera at the ready. If I needed someone to run a blood-sucking killer down, I'd want Darren McGavin to do it!
