As a western musician who has become proficient in the theory and concepts of north and south indian musics, what resources would you recommend to a young western student who wants to take a similar path. I plan on getting Prasanna's Carnatic guitar DVD as well as Swami Rama's book on North Indian theory. If there is any other advice or recommendations you could give me, I would greatly appreciate it.

If you are looking for literature and your instrument happens to be bass, go to www.jonathandimond.com
and get a copy of bass riaz. That is an awesome book.
In general I recommend listening to the music of umayalpuram shivaraman and zakir hussain...
