Re: Story by Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi (from the Ramana Maharshi website)
Dear Ankur Ji:
Very nice story.
It seems obvious to me, that the Sadhu had become accustomed to sleeping with the three stones; and he would not have been able to achieve a decent night's sleep without them; which tends to denote a certain attachment to those items.
Sri Ramakrishna tells a similar story of a fish monger visiting her sister, who lived in a garden of flowers. Being unable to sleep in that environment, the fish monger took her empty fish basket and sprinkled some water upon it, and resting it near her head, was able to fall into a sound sleep. In other words, she had become attached to the fishy smell, just like the Sadhu was attached to his three stones.
