A little later I again went to Mother. She was sitting in the veranda outside her room, cutting vegetables, her legs stretched out. After touching her feet, I sat beside her and read out the letter from Mahapurush Maharaj. She enquired about Tarak’s welfare and questioned me with much solicitude about our famine-relief work. Regarding the initiation she said, “Son, tomorrow is an auspicious day (perhaps it was Janmashtami); so tomorrow I shall impart initiation to you. Don’t eat anything in the morning. After your bath, wait. I shall call you when it is time. Then she asked me to offer pranam in the adjoining room where she performed puja.
