Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Please send me your mailing address, respected web admin (Shri Tom). I would be more than glad to send you a copy of the video, which is available very easily at the Ramakrishna Ashrama here, and that too at such low price as only Rs 40 or Rs 60 in Indian currency. So it will be my heart-felt pleasure to gift you a copy and send you the same by international courier.

With warm regards and thanks for all your good wishes,

Ankur

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

That is very very kind of you, Ankur Ji, but I would
prefer if you would not go to any such trouble for me.

I remember one occasion, when someone kindly sent me
a DVD from abroad; and I was obliged to present myself
at the Canada Customs and Excise office; in order to
claim the small package.

I would prefer to avoid any such future occurrence;
so, sadly, I must demur.

However, your kindness has deeply touched my heart.

I don't know if you are familiar with "Murphy's Law"
in India. Murphy's law is an adage or epigram
that is typically stated as:
"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong".

I seem to be dwelling under the spell of this quaint
law.

For instance, even if a package makes it to my front door,
without problem; the Postman or woman will never wait long
enough for me to answer the doorbell; and will instead leave
a card in my mailbox, necessitating a two-mile-walk to and
from the remotely located Post Office.

That is yet another example of "Murphy's Law" in action....

I think that the Indian concept of "Murphy's Law" would be
'well summed up' by the following Thakurji quote:

"The Divine Mother wants to continue playing with Her
created beings. In a game of hide-and-seek the running
about soon stops if in the beginning all the players
touch the 'granny'. If all touch her, than how can the game
go on? That displeases Her.
Her pleasure is in continuing the game."

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Thank you for your concern, Sister Rosemary, but I am quite content to remain under the spell of the Divine Mother.

Life would be a total bore otherwise...

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Thank you for your kind reply, Respected Tom Ji. I was quite interested to read about Murphy's Law.

That reminds me of the saying that trouble never comes alone! But of course, the medicine for such a situation (facing a host of problems) is to remind oneself of Holy Mother's saying that Misery is the Gift of God, and be happy.

Warm regards,

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Yes, my dear brother, misery is a gift of God,
but the even greater gift is to experience joy
in the midst of misery. Sometimes, the simple
gift of a crust of bread can lift our souls
back into their rightful place.

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Dear brother Tom,
There is a right time for everything... If Maa wishes for you to have this DVD, she will make it happen without even you notice...
She loves to play hide and seek with Her children in granting them their wishes...Children mis-perceive what their wishes are but Maa knows who needs what and does accordingly...She is still making me wait for my 'initiation'...

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Satwik Ji, your devotion to Holy Mother is inspiring for me.

Of course, I believe what you say, that Mother knows our needs.

I live a solitary life, totally dependent upon the generosity
of the Holy Mother, who has looked after me so carefully, for
the past thirty years (maybe even from birth).

My intention is to keep my life as simple as possible;
in order to be able to devote my time 24/7 to Sri Ramakrishna
Vedanta.

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

What would I do without you guys?

Here is a trivia question of a fact that I learned from the video.

How many symbols are engraved on the image of Sri Ramakrishna at the temple at Kamarpukur and what do they represent?

Location: New Bern

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Okay, as it turns out, the symbols are on the altar and not the image...

How many times is worship performed before Mother's image in the temple at Jayrambati??

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

What is the name of Thakur's father's family Deity?

Location: New Bern

Re: Pilgrimage video preview on You Tube

Dear sister,
Lord Raghuvir is the family Deity of Thakur's family. There is a temple of Sri Raghuvir in RK Ashram, Kamarpukur.

Take the "virtual darshan" of this Holy pilgrimage site:

Temple of Sri Raghuvira:
This also was previously a small hut facing east. It had floor and walls of mud and a roof of straw, The present temple has been constructed exactly on the same spot with the same dimensions. In it, the Salagrama Sheela (round stone emblem) of Raghuvira (Rama), the earthen jar representing Goddess Sitala, the Rameswara Sivalinga, an image of Gopala and the Salagrama Sheela of Narayana are worshipped everyday. The last two deities were worshipped by Lakshmi Didi, niece of Sri Ramakrishna.
