Whenever copies of Udbodhan, Tattwamanjari and similar other journals arrived, Mother would enquire, “Is there any article by Sharat?” If so, she would ask me to read it aloud. Once a Sanskrit hymn was published in the Tattwamanjari. When I read it out to her, Mother said, “Tell it to me in Bengali.” I did not know the meaning of “deshikendram” and some other words, and there being no dictionary at hand, I said, “I shall ask our senior teacher of Sanskrit to explain to me, and then I shall tell you about it.” She, however, would not give up, “Tell me as much as you can,” She persisted.
