(Those) early days when they (Swamiji and his brother disciples) used to go to Sri Ramakrishna at Dakshineswar, the dear Holy Mother remains as proof and witness of that time. She is all sweetness – all quiet – and so radiant. I have realized more deeply of late how truly she was the wife of Sri Ramakrishna. (Letter dated 22/9/1910, Vedanta Kesari, July 1996, p. 260.) Oh, it is grand…near the Holy Mother. I cannot say to you how wonderful it is! The place really exists, the whole wonderful dreamland in one’s heart is here. (LSN, to Mrs. Ole Bull, 1/9/1909, Vol 2, 1982, p.999.) There is such sweetness in that house! If one runs in on business before beginning the day’s work, there is such a warmth of love and blessing and nothing-wanted-of-you! I cannot describe it! (LSN, to Josephine MacLeod, 28/7/1910, Vol. 2, 1982, p. 1122.)
