Reminiscences of The Holy Mother!!!

THE HOLY MOTHER : OUR ETERNAL HAVEN - 30
SISTER NIVEDITA

The Holy Mother used to stay now and then in the Udbodhan building in Baghbazar. Sister Nivedita and Sister Christine used to spend some time at least once every day with her there. Nivedita used to constantly look at the Holy Mother’s face as a young baby would look at her mother’s. Sister Nivedita, a woman as brilliant as whom is rarely found in this world, by looking at the penetrative vision of whose eyes shining with the light of intelligence one felt that it can solve any mystery in this universe, the same Nivedita when seen sitting near Sri Sarada Devi would appear to be a small girl of five, innocent, depending wholly on the Mother. When the Mother looked at her with an affectionate smile, she would totally melt like a baby being caressed by her mother. The day when she would get the privilege of spreading the seat for the Holy Mother, her joy would be indescribable – one could only realize it if one looked at her. She would kiss the seat several times and dust it very solicitously before spreading it; her expressions would reveal that she finding the very fulfilment of life in being allowed to do that service for the Mother. (NSBM – Nivedita as Seen by Me, Saralabala Sircar – quoted in the Vedanta Kesari, July 1996, p. 262)
