Once it was decided that the Holy Mother would visit the school. On getting that news, there was no end to Nivedita’s doings and joy. She got all the rooms cleaned, dusted and made to look trim and tidy, got welcome-arches made of flowers and leaves put on the doors, couldn’t find a second’s pause while planning where would the Mother sit and talk to the girls, what would the girls offer to her as presents, what would they recite for her, how would they honour her, etc. And when finally the Mother arrived in the school, Nivedita was simply overwhelmed with joy! She was running about here and there to see that all things were in proper place, was laughing without any cause like a baby, and sometimes, unable to contain the joy within herself was trying to express it hugging the school teachers, students and even the maid servants.
