Mother As I Saw Her – Swami Saradeshananda
The Mother’s Attitude towards Presents – 03

One day early in the morning a son of hers arrived at Jayrambati carrying a basketful of vegetables. He placed them at the threshold of the Mother’s door and made pranam to her. The Mother had, according to her habit, just spread the carpet and sat down to cut the vegetables. Filled with great joy at the sight of the presents brought by the newly arrived son, she said, “My son, there was not enough of vegetables for use with me for the day. I had hardly taken the Bonti (a vegetable cutting knife) and started thinking what to cut, when you arrived with such fine vegetables. How the Master arranges for things as necessity arises!” The heart of the devotee was filled to the brim with joy at this expression of her joyous satisfaction. He felt that his labour of love had found its fulfilment.
