Mother As I Saw Her – Swami Saradeshananda
The Mother as a Paramahamsa:
Molestation of the Mother’s Disciples by the Police – 3

Although no untoward incident happened at that time, after a few months the Inspector in charge of the local Police outpost at Siromanipur came to the Mother’s place to make enquiries about the above mentioned Sadhu under the instruction of the Police Headquarters. Although the others at the Mother’s house were worried when they were informed by the village Chowkidar that the Police Inspector would be coming next day for making enquiries, there was not the least sign of anxiety on the Mother’s face. Next day morning, there arrived at the Mother’s place Manindra Babu, who was a advocate of Arambag and a disciple-son of hers. His arrival gave them all great relief from anxiety and made them cheerful. In view of the impending visit of the Police inspector, they asked him to spend that night there. When the inspector arrived before nightfall, Manundra babu received him. In the course of conversation that followed, the Inspector asked a few questions of those assembled there, and this gathered the information that he wanted. In the meantime the Mother herself prepared some ‘halva’ and sent word to bring the Inspector inside the house. The Inspector went in and made Pranam to the Mother with great respect. The Mother, too, sat near him and asked him to have a snack. She served him herself with great affection. As he was eating, he converses with the Mother, and from time to time asked her questions. He thus completed his investigation. After pitting pan (betel rolls) in his mouth, he made Pranam to the Mother and took leave of her. The Mother, too, in a happy mood bade him good-bye very affectionately; as she would do to one of her sons. Thus ended – in such a simple, natural way – the Police enquiry which was worrying everyone so much, and they were all happy.
