Awakening of Divinity – 09

Shortly after her return to Dakshineswar in April 1874, Sarada Devi took up her residence at the Nahabat. As the room was very small, Sambhu Mallick2 (2 A householder devotee of Sri Ramakrishna, and one of the suppliers of his personal needs.) built a rather spacious house for her near the temple garden, where she lived with a maidservant. There she cooked the Master’s meals and took them to his room. Sri Ramakrishna kept her company now and then. One evening when he was with Sarada Devi a heavy rain started which lasted till midnight. He was compelled to spend the night at her house. Joking about this incident, he said to her: ‘The priests of the Kali temple spend the night with their families after working the whole day at the temple, The same thing has happened tonight with me.1 (1 Sri Ramakrishna was himself, a priest in the Kali Temple.)
