Awakening of Divinity – 19

Next year she again visited Kamarpukur and Jayrambati – this being her seventh visit – and returned to Dakshineswar after seven or eight months. After depositing her bundles in the Nahabat, she went to Sri Ramakrishna’s room. Some time before, in a state of samadhi, the Master had fallen and dislocated a bone in his left arm. Sri Ramakrishna asked her when she had left home, and learnt that it was an inauspicious hour according to the tradition in Bengal. Bowing before tradition, he said: ‘This is why I have broken my arm. Return home at once and start again on an auspicious hour.’ Sarada Devi was ready to leave then and there, but was requested by her husband to spend the night. The following day she left for Jayrambati and came back to Dakshineswar within a few days.

In 1884 she went to Kamarpukur to attend the marriage of her nephew Ramlal and also visited Jayrambati, returning to Dakshineswar in March 1885. This was her last visit to Kamarpukur and Jayrambati during Sri Ramakrishna’s lifetime.
