Sarada Devi often referred to the time she spent in the Nahabat as the best period of her life. Speaking about it years after, she would often forget herself in joy. ‘How happy I was then!’ She said again and again. Few people, indeed could stand such a cramped life. The holy atmosphere of the Ganges and the temples, service to the devotees, attendance on her husband, and her own spiritual practices and experiences lifted her mind above the physical hardship. Her days were filled with unceasing activity alternating with the stillness of prayer.
