Holy Mother By Swami Nikhilananda: 104
In The March of Events – 16
To resume the narrative of Sarada Devi’s life at Dakshineswar. The boy Latu used to knead the flour for bread, wash the dishes, and do the errands of a house-boy. One day Sarada Devi had been kneading a large quantity of flour while Latu was meditating by the bank of the Ganges. The master happened to pass by and said to him: ‘Look here, Latu, the one on whom you are meditating is here now sweating over the flour.’1 (1 Evidently Sri Ramakrishna meant Sarada Devi, whom he regarded as identical with the Divine Mother Kali. Latu had been meditating on kali.) He took Latu to the Nahabat and said to Sarada Devi: ‘He is a pure-souled boy. Whenever you need any help, please ask him.’ Latu became a member of Sarada Devi’s household.
