In The March of Events – 27

Watching the actions and movements of Sri Ramakrishna for a long time, Sarada Devi learnt to divine his thoughts and feelings easily. One day the Master was returning from the Kali temple when she was sweeping his room and making his bed. As he walked through the paved courtyard, his eyes were bloodshot and his legs unsteady. He looked like a drunkard. He entered the room and touching Sarada Devi asked her if he was really drunk. She looked at him and said: ‘No, no, why should you be drunk?’ ‘Then,’ the Master asked, ‘why I am reeling? I cannot talk. Am I intoxicated?’ ‘No, no,’ she said again, ‘Why should you be intoxicated like an ordinary drunkard? You are drunk with love of the Divine Mother.’ Sri Ramakrishna was delighted and said: ‘You are right.’
