The Master’s devotees used to bring offerings of fruit and sweets for him. Sarada Devi distributed these freely among the devotees and neighbours, sometimes forgetting to keep a share for her husband. Expressing his disapproval, the Master said to her one day: ‘If you give things away in this manner, how will you run the house?’ Abruptly Sarada Devi left the room. Greatly distressed, Sri Ramakrishna said to his nephew Ramlal: ‘Go at once and pacify your aunt. If she gets angry then all my spirituality will come to naught.’
