Another day Sarada Devi, through Yogin-Ma, conveyed her request to the Master for samadhi. ‘Please tell him,’ she said, ‘that I would like to experience it. I do not find him alone to speak about the matter myself.’ Next day Yogin-ma informed the Master of Sarada Devi’s wish. He listened to it but remained silent and grave. Yogin-Ma felt nervous and returned at once to the Nahabat. Sarada Devi was hen meditating in her room, with the door ajar. Yogin-Ma peeped in and saw a strange sight. Sarada Devi was not weeping and now laughing. Tears streamed from her eyes. After a while she became still, immobile as a stone. Yogin-ma shut the door and went away. After a long while she came back, and Sarada Devi asked her when she had returned from the Master’s room. ‘Go on Mother!’ Yogin-Ma said, ‘So you do not experience samadhi!’ Sarada Devi laughed.
