While she was thus passing melancholy days at Dakshineswar, a cruel remark made unwittingly by tactless Golap-Ma hurt her feelings deeply. Golap-Ma said to Yogin-Ma that the Master had probably left Dakshineswar because he was annoyed with Sarada Devi. Greatly troubled in mind, she went at once to Shyampukur and asked him with tears in her eyes of she had really offended him. Sri Ramakrishna denied the whole thing and sent her back to the Nahabat in a peaceful mood. Later he scolded Golap-Ma severely for her stupid chatter and asked her to beg Sarada Devi’s forgiveness. Golap-Ma walked on foot all the way to Dakshineswar and, weeping, implored Sarada Devi to forgive her. Sarada Devi, who could never bear ill feeling against anyone, laughed and gently patted her on her back three times.
