The Masters Death and After – 12

On another occasion Sarada Devi carried the Master’s food to his room and found him lying in bed with his eyes closed. She said aloud: ‘Please get up, this is your meal time.’ Sri Ramakrishna appeared to have returned from a trip to a faraway realm and said to her, in an absorbed mood: ‘Look at the people of Calcutta; they are like worms squirming in darkness. You must bring light to them.’ Sarada Devi replied: ‘We shall think of it later. Now take your meal.’

Now and then the Master sang in the presence of Sarada Devi:

‘What a burden I am bearing! Whom shall I explain it to?
Only the bearer knows his burden: how can others know?’

Then he would say to her: ‘This is not my burden alone. You, too, shall have to share it.’
