The Masters Death and After – 33

After spending about a year at Vrindavan, Holy Mother and some of her companions visited Hardwar, where the Ganges, coming down from a higher glacier in the Himalayas, enters the plains of India. There she consigned some of the Master’s hair and nails to the sacred river. Next the party went to Jeypore and Allahabad. At the confluence of the Jamuna and the Ganges in Allahabad, she deposited the remaining hair of Sri Ramakrishna. To describe the incident in her own words: ‘Is the Master’s hair a mere trifle? After his passing away I carried his hair to Allahabad to offer it at the confluence of the sacred rivers. The water was still. As I held the hair in my hand suddenly a wave rose and carried it away. The spot, already sacred, took the hair from my hand in order to increase its sanctity.’ The party returned to Calcutta in August 1887.
