Anguish and Reassurances – 01

AFTER HER RETURN from Vrindavan, Holy Mother lived in her mortal body for thirty-three years, which may be roughly divided into three periods. During the first period (1887-1898) she lived mostly out of the public gaze, travelling frequently between Calcutta and Kamarpukur and Jayrambati. Not much information is available about this period. During the second period (1898-1909) she began her spiritual ministry in earnest. It reached its culmination during the third period (1909-1920).

On returning to Calcutta, in August 1887, Holy Mother spent a few days at Balaram’s house and then set out for Kamarpukur accompanied by Yogin-Ma, Golap-Ma, and a few other devotees. Before her departure she went to Dakshnieswar and paid her respects to the different deities in the temples. Needless to say, she also visited the Master’s room and the Nahabat, associated with so many indelible precious memories.
