Anguish and Reassurances – 10
After having spent nine months ar Kamarpukur, Holy Mother went to Calcutta in April 1888. She stayed for a few days with Balaram Bose’s family and then went to Nilambar Mukherji’s house at belur, rented for her by the devotees. Needless to say, the disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, especially the women among them, were overjoyed at her presence. They realized that the responsibility of looking after her now rested with them. It is reported, however, that some of the householders at first did not recognize her greatness and rather criticized the excessive devotion of such women disciples as Gola-Ma and Yogin-Ma. But when they were told about her exalted spiritual moods at Vrindavan they soon changed their views. The duty of looking after her devolved mainly upon Swami Yogananda and Golap-Ma.
