Holy Mother By Swami Nikhilananda: 193

Anguish and Reassurances – 17

The party returned to Calcutta on January 12, 1889. On February 5, Holy Mother went to the birthplace of Sri Premananda together with Swami Vivekananda, Swami Saradananda, and some other disciples of the Master. From there she returned to Kamarpukur, where she stayed about a year. On March 25, 1890, she made a pilgrimage to Gaya to offer the traditional rice-balls and water for the satisfaction of the soul of her mother-in-law. From Gaya she went to Bodh-Gaya, the place of the Buddha’s enlightenment, where she saw monks living in affluence in a monastery. Remembering the hardship and poverty of Sri Ramakrishna’s wandering disciples, she prayed fervently to God for their physical welfare.
