Similar phenomena were noticed in the life of Sri Ramakrishna. He often created forced desires to bring his mind down from the high plane of samadhi. He would ask for a smoke or a particular kind of sweetmeat. He prayed to the Divine Mother that he might not remain unconscious in the contemplation of Brahman. If his mind did not dwell on the physical plane, he asked, how would his earthly mission be fulfilled?
