Chapter 13 – In the Role of Teacher : 011
We have already mentioned Holy Mother’s physical suffering. It is said that the price of sin is suffering. But the Mother was sinless. She herself said that she did not remember ever having committed a sinful act, and explained the cause of her suffering as her taking on herself the iniquities of her disciples. It was vicarious atonement. Regarding initiation Holy Mother said: ‘The power of the teacher enters into the disciple, and the power of the disciple enters into the teacher. That is why, when I initiate and accept the sins of the disciples, I fall sick. It is extremely difficult to be a teacher. On the other hand, by leading a virtuous life the disciple does good to the teacher.’ Initiation, the Mother said more than once, had made her rheumatism chronic.
