Re: SPREAD EAGLE St.Philip’s Plain (Narrow Plain)

Hi George,

I don't suppose you know which brewery owned this pub?

I'm doing a bit of research work into my grandparents who ran the pub (Neathey).

I have an M&B beer tray and a Bass half-pint glass which I was given by my grandmother a long time ago (I think they may have originally been used in the pub)

Thanks,

Rob

Re: SPREAD EAGLE St.Philip’s Plain (Narrow Plain)

The picture shows no sign of it belonging to one of the Bristol Breweries, so possibly an M & B pub (there were others in Bristol) or a free house. Sorry to be of so little help

George

Re: SPREAD EAGLE St.Philip’s Plain (Narrow Plain)

Just for your info George, it looks like it was a Fussell's pub (http://breweryhistory.com/wiki/index.php?title=List_of_Sidney_Fussell_%26_Sons_Ltd). The brewery was acquired by Bass, Mitchells & Butlers Ltd in 1962
