70's Hagstrom Looking for Bridge

Hey,

I was given my old Swede by a guy named Ray Stark that got it in the 70's, when he was a regular on The Grand Ol' Oprey and some other country entertainment shows. Anyways, the only mods he made was changing the nut to accomodate huge acoustic strings that matched his style. I absolutely love the guitar but one of the roller saddles constantly cuts my G string and has for 10 years. I have an old Gibson ES 175-D and a Carvin that I had made a couple years back but the hag's my favorite. I tried filing the saddle, I can't really find a burr there but the string breakage kills me. Does anyone know where I can get a unused bridge to replace it?
Thanks!

Re: 70's Hagstrom Looking for Bridge

Hi there,

I always thought the old Swedes from the 70s had the bridge with the chiseled ends, not rollers.
I got a '80 Swede that has what looks like a Schaller Roller bridge,

One old guitar tech refered to it as being from a Gretch. I always assumed it was replaced and not stock.
The pics of other Swedes I see don't show in detail the bridge, or the few other Swedes have the chisel ends.
Have you tried using a third wound G string?
Maybe since Ray was using Acoustic style stings, his G string is wound.

Good luck
