I think it's a H II Sunburst but it's not very well

Hi,

I've recently moved and in doing so found an old bass in the loft that I can't remember how I got, but I do have a tendency to buy old instruments on the basis that I might get round to doing something with them.

Anyway, I think that it's a Hagstrom II Sunburst. Unfortunately it's obviously had a bit of a battering. The finish isn't in a great state, especially the back of the neck and for some reason the machine heads have been replaced with non-orignals (different screw hole pattern) All this is cosmetic, but the main problem is that when I plug it into an amp all I get is a horrible buzzing and no response from the strings.

In short, am I looking at a spares and repairs donor for other people's projects, or will it be resurrectable? I can post piccies if someone can tell me how to do so.

Thanks,

Tim Carter

Could be possible it's just the pots or some bad soldering, or both. Recently got a bass and had to use contact cleaner on the pot and fresh solder on the joints
Now she works great.

Pics may help

Hi,

some photos are here:

Serial number on the back is 679243 if that helps date it?

Hi, you got a HIIB, made in 1966.

The Picassa link does not work
