HIIN-OT info request

Hello all. Today I acquired what I believe to be an HIIN-OT. The serial number is 829012. Can anyone tell me an approx date of manufacturing and any other details? It's got a blonde headstock with 3 tuners on each side. It also seems to have a quirky feature in that the small metal bar on the headstock is at a noticeable angle, not parallel to the nut as I'm seeing in most pictures of this model that I can find online.

It came with what was supposedly the original case (I'm a little suspect because it's a VERY loose fit). It is black exterior with red fuzz liner. In the case pocket was a 10-Year Hagstrom Guarantee card with an address of Arc Musical Instruments, Toronto. Also in the case was a grey guitar cable, a very old looking thin black (leather?) strap, and an ancient pack of Black Diamond strings.

The tailpiece appears to be for a 12-string guitar - is this normal? As far as I can tell everything else is original, and the guitar is in remarkable condition for its age.

The pickup selector switch seems to be backwards to me - meaning when it's pointing diagonally down (towards the bridge) the neck pickup is actually on. Is this standard or has my guitar been rewired?

On/Off switch is very crackly but seems functional although some bass frequencies still come through in the off position.

I am quite amazed at the amount of sustain on the lower notes, even using a practice amp at low volume.

The intonation is currently not very good, does anyone have tips for adjusting these bridges?

I'd welcome any comments or suggestions regarding this guitar! Cheers!!

Your H-II N OT was built in 71-72 and is #12 of 159
That funky bar...you mean the string retainer?
The one's ppl refer to as an original case is the fitted ones with the tiger strip lining. But that you got all that cool case candy is a bonus
I've seen some minor mix n matching on Hags, one was even a 12-string string retainer with notches on a 6-string. So a 12 string tail piece is easy to imagine.
My guess with the pup switch is the nut became loose and when it got tighten, they rotated the switch.
The on/off switch my have just become dirty over time sitting around, spray some contact cleaner in it and work it in. The switch only throws the pups to ground (off)
Those saddles are a pain to set, but work great. You'll have to loosen the strings to move them. Remember: flat forward, meaning if the original note is flat move the saddle forward. Use a good long thin screw driver for better torque, you don't want to strip those screws.
Usually after the E is set, the A is a little more closer up the neck, then the D is the same. The G/B/e is mostly parallel to the first three.

hope this helps
