Hard Case for vintage '74 Swede

I'm hitting dead ends trying to get a new Swede case made in Canada with brown lining. My '74 Swede needs a good home.

Does anyone know where I can get an original '70s vintage Hagstrom Swede case?

Does anyone know where I can get a new or used brown lined Canadian Hagstrom Swede case?

Would a new SKB-56 case for a les paul be a superb fit for my Swede?

Should I stoop to the lack of quality available with a Hagstrom Chinese black lined case?

Should I try to be patient and wait until I can find a brown lined Canadian Hagstrom case?

Please reply promptly with your knowledge and opinions.

Thanks, Todd

The cases, don't fit the original swedes perfectly, but fits nicely. Are the reissues thicker?
None of the online music stores have one left in stock or is it only the black lined ones?
What's wrong with the black lined ones?

Re: Hard Case for vintage '74 Swede

I have checked as many online stores as I can find.

I have one black and one brown rectangle case.

First, and most important to me, the brown is BEAUTIFUL and the black is UGLY.

Second, the brown is cut to perfectly hold my H II N OT, while the black has no contouring and fits loosely.

Third, even brand new, the hardware on the black looks worn and tarnished, not in a good vintage way but in a cheaply manufactured, unproperly plated way.

Fourth, I read in this forum that there is a lingering chemical stench in the new black cases that I fear will damage my health and my guitar.

Re: Hard Case for vintage '74 Swede

Yes, unfortunately the Chinese made, black interior cases are inferior to the Canadian made. I have several brown Swede cases and one black case for my '74 Viking. It smelled bad! Must have been the glue, but it had a strong chemical smell. I aired it out for a couple of weeks, but it still smells faintly. Not as well padded as the brown cases and cheaper feeling handle. I kept it because I got it cheap ($60 shipped). No way I would spend full retail, > $100. I found it impossible to find a Canadian made case. I called two retailers that showed brown cases on their website to verify that the cases were Canadian made, both said yes and then sent Chinese cases anyway. Returned both.
